Hash Browns - Homemade

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • 3 large russet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Recipe

  • 1 use a heavy 12 inch cast-iron or stainless-steel skillet with sloping sides .
  • 2 shred potatoes with a hand grater or food processor.
  • 3 place potatoes in a bowl of cold water immediately.
  • 4 drain the grated potatoes thoroughly with a colander. squeeze out excess water.
  • 5 heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil on medium-high heat
  • 6 scatter the potatoes evenly and press down firmly with a spatula.
  • 7 reduce heat to medium and cook for approximately eight minutes.
  • 8 let them cook until brown and crispy.
  • 9 flip the hash browns when the first side is browned and cook for another seven minutes.
