Spicy Green Beans With Garlic

Total Time: 25 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 15 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/4 cup clarified butter or 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
  • 2 jalapeno peppers or 2 serrano peppers, stems and seeds removed, minced
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
  • 1 lb green beans, tough ends removed
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds

Recipe

  • 1 in a large saute pan, heat the butter over medium-high heat.
  • 2 add the garlic, peppers, turmeric, cumin, and cayenne. cook, stirring, until the garlic begins to turn golden, about 2 minutes.
  • 3 add the green beans, water, and salt. stir well. cover and cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until the beans are tender, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • 4 add the sesame seeds and cook uncovered, stirring, until toasted, 2 to 3 minutes.
  • 5 remove from the heat. add salt and pepper to taste. serve hot.
