Dutch Honey Bread

Total Time: 1 hr 10 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup honey
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups rye flour
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • 1 dash salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 tablespoons orange marmalade

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350°f.
  • 2 beat honey and sugar until mixture turns light.
  • 3 sift together flours, baking soda, spices and salt.
  • 4 mix into honey mixture alternately with milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients.
  • 5 stir in marmalade and mix well.
  • 6 pour batter into a large loaf pan.
  • 7 bake for about 1 1/4 hours, or until a cake tester comes out clean.
  • 8 if the top browns too quickly, cover with foil.
  • 9 cool wrapped in a towel.
