Dutch Hache - Stewed Meat

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 5 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 10 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 1/2 lbs beef, cut up into bite-size pieces
  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 cups sliced onions
  • 1/4 cup diced celery
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 4 peppercorns
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper

Recipe

  • 1 brown the onions in the butter or oil.
  • 2 add flour, mix well and cook 1 minute.
  • 3 add beef broth and bring to a boil.
  • 4 add all other ingredients.
  • 5 lower heat to simmer and cook for at least one hour or until meat is tender.
  • 6 adjust seasoning if necessary. you may want more salt.
  • 7 serve over mashed potatoes, with cooked cabbage on the side.
