Old Fashioned Cream Pie

Total Time: 30 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups half-and-half (cannot use 2% milk)
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1 pie crust, prepared (baked)
  • nutmeg

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in double boiler. mix in sugar into butter.
  • 2 mix 1/4 cup of half and half with cornstarch.
  • 3 add remaining half and half to double boiler butter/sugar mix.
  • 4 stir in half and half/cornstarch into the butter/sugar/half and half combination.
  • 5 heat over med-low heat, stirring constantly until thickens.
  • 6 pour into baked pie shell, lightly sprinkle with nutmeg (for garnish).
  • 7 bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
  • 8 refrigerate.
  • 9 for microwave - mix ingredients together in safe bowl, microwave for 10 minutes, stirring at 2 minute intervals until thick. pour into prepared shell, sprinkle with nutmeg and bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
