Old Fashioned Cream Pie

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups half-and-half (cannot use 2% milk)
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 pie crust, prepared (baked)
- nutmeg
Recipe
- 1 melt butter in double boiler. mix in sugar into butter.
- 2 mix 1/4 cup of half and half with cornstarch.
- 3 add remaining half and half to double boiler butter/sugar mix.
- 4 stir in half and half/cornstarch into the butter/sugar/half and half combination.
- 5 heat over med-low heat, stirring constantly until thickens.
- 6 pour into baked pie shell, lightly sprinkle with nutmeg (for garnish).
- 7 bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
- 8 refrigerate.
- 9 for microwave - mix ingredients together in safe bowl, microwave for 10 minutes, stirring at 2 minute intervals until thick. pour into prepared shell, sprinkle with nutmeg and bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes.
