How To Blanch And Shell Chestnuts

Total Time: 20 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 10 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 lb chestnuts
  • water

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 450°f.
  • 2 place chestnuts in cold water; discard those that float.
  • 3 dry and slit each shell 1/2 to 3/4 inch on each side.
  • 4 place in a saucepan, add oil and shake pan over heat for five minutes.
  • 5 roast in oven for another five minutes.
  • 6 when cool enough to handle, remove shells and brown skin underneath with a sharp paring knife.
