  • 100 g baby corn
  • 4 chicken breast fillets
  • 2 1/2 cm piece fresh ginger
  • 1 bunch spring onion
  • 2 carrots
  • 3 tablespoons oil (i normally use olive or grapeseed, as they're all i buy)
  • 150 ml chicken stock
  • 1 tablespoon soft dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce

  • 1 bring a wok of water to the boil. blanch the broccoli and corn in the water for 2 minutes.drain well.
  • 2 cut the chicken into strips, peel and slice the ginger into thin matchsticks. trim and diagonally slice the spring onions. peel and cut the carrots into matchsticks.
  • 3 wipe the wok with paper towel and heat oil until almost smoking. add the chicken and stir-fry until golden and cooked through. transfer to a plate and keep warm.
  • 4 stir-fry the ginger, spring onions and carrots for 2 minutes. stir in the broccoli and baby corn, cooking for 1 minute.
  • 5 whisk together the sauce ingredients until smooth and well blended. add to the pan, along with the chicken. bring to the boil and simmer for a further 2 minutes, or until heated through.

  • 3 pour dough into a well greased spring-form pan (26 cm/10 inch in diameter) and spread it out evenly using the back of a spoon.

  • 1 in the morning (if desired) place one reynolds crock pot liner in your crock pot according to the directions.

  • 8 on a clean work surface pour the flour. add 1/2 tsp of salt and 1/2 tsp black pepper and mix in to the flour. spread all over surface.
  • 9 take your pot roast and roll it around in the flour. coat all the surfaces of the meat well.
  • 10 place the floured pot roast into the hot pan.
  • 11 sear on all sides untill golden brown. 2-4 minuets on each side.
  • 12 when all sides are seared set the pot roast in the middle of the crock pot.
  • 13 pour the liquid mixture over it.
  • 14 turn the crockpot on to high heat.
  • 15 add the onion, potatoes, carrots, garlic cloves and bay leaf all around the pot roast but in the liquid.
  • 16 salt and pepper to taste.
  • 17 cook on high for 2 hours and then lower the temperature to low for at least 3 hours.
  • 18 when meat is falling apart tender and all vegetables are fork tender serve 2 pieces with some of the pot roasted vegetables, and natural gravy.

  • 1 for the sauce; in a medium saucepan cook the mushrooms in butter until the mushrooms loose there moister (you can remove the mushrooms or leave them in the saucepan).

  • 3 stir in the cream cheese; cook over low heat, stirring constantly until the cheese has melted.

  • 1 remove all visible fat from the chicken and toss it in the crock pot.

Easy And Traditional British Pub Style Pickled Onions

  • 2 lbs pickling onions, peeled
  • 1 1/2 pints malt vinegar or 1 1/2 pints pickling vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons ready-mixed pickling spices (or 2 tablespoons of your your own mix using -- green, white and black peppercorns, coriander seeds,)

Recipe

  • 1 peel the onions and pack one third of them tightly into a large kilner jar or preserves jar. (you can also use several smaller jars if you wish.).
  • 2 scatter one third of the pickling spices over the top of the first layer of onions and continue packing the onions in to the jar - adding two more layers of pickling spices as you go.
  • 3 pour the malt vinegar into the jar, making sure that all the onions are covered by the vinegar.
  • 4 add some extra vinegar if there is not quite enough.
  • 5 seal the jar and store in a dark, cool place for at least 6 weeks before using the pickled onions.
  • 6 brining notes:.
  • 7 you need to begin 2 days ahead by placing the onions in a large non-metallic bowl. then mix 2 pints of water with 4 ozs of salt together, pour this over the onions and leave them covered with a cloth for 2 days.
  • 8 drain the onions and dry them well, continue as above. these onions will last for up to 2 years + in ideal conditions - a dark and cool pantry or store room.

  • 1 heat the oil in a large skillet and add chopped onion, garlic, and okra. it is important to properly cook the okra so that it browns, loses much of its slick texture, and brings the flavor out. if you are using raw chicken instead of cooked, add it at this time.

  • 1 drizzle olive oil or spray casserole dish with pam.
  • 2 chop onions and layer pan.

  • 6 pour 1/2 jar sauce to cover chicken.
  • 7 bake in oven 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees.

  • 2 dissolve the nutty mixture in cold milk without goops.

  • 2 large artichokes (about 1 pound each)
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped

  • rinse artichokes under cold water, and use a sharp knife to cut the top 1/3 off of each one. trim the stems to about 1 inch, and remove the smaller leaves from around the base. use scissors to remove any remaining leaf tips. cut each artichoke in half from the bottom to the top, then use a spoon to scrape out the hairy choke. rinse again to remove any residual hairs.
  • melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. add the garlic, and saute for about 1 minute to flavor the butter. arrange artichoke halves cut-side down in the skillet. saute for about 5 or 10 minutes, or until lightly browned. reduce heat to low, and pour in about 1/4 cup of water, cover, and let steam for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the artichokes are tender. a fork should easily pierce the stem.

  • place potatoes in a medium saucepan with enough water to cover. boil 15 minutes, or until tender; drain.
  • in a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring kidney beans and their liquid to a boil. stir in broccoli. cook until broccoli is tender and most of the liquid has been reduced, about 10 minutes.
  • heat oil, ginger, cardamom, and mixed spice in a medium skillet over medium heat. stir in onion, mushrooms, and baby corn. cook until tender.
