Dog's Breath Biscuits

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup white flour
  • 1 cup quick oats or 1 large flake rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup cornmeal
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup peanut butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup parsley
  • 1/4 cup mint

Recipe

  • 1 line rimless baking sheet with parchment paper or grease. set aside.
  • 2 in bowl, whisk together the flours, oats, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder and salt.
  • 3 in separate bowl, beat butter with peanut butter; beat in eggs, 1 at a time.
  • 4 stir in flour mixture, mint and parsley to make a soft dough.
  • 5 divide in half; wrap and refridgerate until firm, about 1 hour. (make ahead and refridgerate for up to 2 days).
  • 6 on lightly floured surface, roll out dough to 1/2" thickness.
  • 7 use a cookie cutter of your choice. i use a small 2" round cutter because i have 2 small dogs.
  • 8 arrange on prepared sheets.
  • 9 bake 325 degrees until golden and firm -- about 35 - 40 minutes. but i found that for our altitude -- 15-20 minutes does the trick for us.
  • 10 transfer to rack; let cool.
  • 11 store in airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
  • 12 **the serving size is dependent on the size of the cookie cutter you use.
